Another beautiful Northern California day made photographing this Dick’s Sporting Goods store an absolute treat. We were greeted with a lovely sunrise that made for a delicious sky. Some clouds may have been a little more dynamic, but hey, I’ll take a nice blue sky any day. This Dick’s is right next door to this Target store that I photographed last year. Dublin, California is a beautiful growing area, not too far from San Francisco.

As I described in my personal blog post linked here, an open Thanksgiving holiday led my girlfriend and I on a trip to Downtown Los Angeles to wander the nearly empty streets. I seized this opportunity to photograph some of the beautiful architecture in the city with my Konica Auto S rangefinder camera and some Tri-X film. I love architecture in black and white. It helps to accentuate shape and form. It makes me think of the old masters shooting with their large format cameras.
If you’re familiar with Los Angeles, I hope you’ll find these images to be a unique perspective on a city you know. If you’re not familiar, I hope you enjoy these images of a small slice of a large place.

Walking by St. Stephen’s on a late afternoon as I often do, one can’t help but notice the beautiful light that washes over the church. At this time of year, it plays interestingly with the shadows of the building. The red building against the blue sky is a wonderfully dramatic setting. I had to stop and capture a few frames on a recent trip past.

Below are some images from an architectural shoot of a City Target in Downtown Los Angeles. The store is located in the FIGat7th development owned by Brookfield. This is one of a new version of Target stores aimed at fitting into smaller urban spaces and stocking items for urbanites who like to run errands without having to leave the city.

August 1, 2012 – Kayla, Matt, and Matthew Anderson Photography have relocated to the Central Coast of California.
San Luis Obispo will be our new home, and we’re excited to learn all it has to offer! The new location puts most of California within reasonable driving distance, meaning we have new places to visit and seek out photographic opportunities! Stay tuned for updates and new imagery here.
